Banda de heavy metal estadounidense fundada en 1981 por lars ulrich y james hetfield , a los que se unen dave mustaine y cliff burton. estos 2 ultimos fueron sustituidos por kirk hammett (guitarra) y jason newsted (bajista). dave mustaine fue despedido al año por adiccion al alcohol y actitud violenta , y más tarde fundó megadeth .
